This book touches on most Aspects of colorectal cancer, and gives a decent overview. Unfortunatedly the tables can't be enlarged and are not very lisible. Also, way too many abbreviations are used.

Delicious recipes for busy families

Sometimes my husband and I talk about the fancy meals I made before we had kids - and then we LAUGH and LAUGH at the idea of me trying to pull one of those meals off with our three littles ones running around the house. Fortunately, delicious doesn't have to be complicated, and this cookbook proves it.

I've tried the Roasted Garlic Cabbage (A personal favorite), Mississippi Pot Roast (Oh. My. Goodness.), Chicken Piccata (My kids favorite), Sriracha Shrimp Lettuce Wraps (Served these on game day and my husband raved about them - also super quick and easy), and Chipotle Chicken Fingers With Honey Mustard (Now in permanent rotation). Everything was easy to make and got a thumbs up from my kids.

Now, this next part should probably come with a "results may vary" disclaimer, but let me tell you what happened on the day I made the sriracha shrimp and my husband was watching his favorite football team play.

Me: When the game is on commercial I have a big ask.
Husband (hits mute): What's the ask?
Me: Will you build me a platform bed like in this photo?
My husband hit record on the t.v. and headed to the hardware store to pick up supplies. It's wasn't my birthday or our anniversary, but I had just made him a big plate of sriracha shrimp lettuce wraps that he raved about. Is he an amazing husband? Absolutely. Did the sriracha shrimp tip things in my favor? I'm gonna go with yes.

I love this book already!

This book is great! I can already tell it will have a permanent spot in my kitchen. I love how only nourishing ingredients are used. The recipes are simple and so far delicious. It's like several books compact into one. I wish this book would've been around 8 years ago when I found Nourishing Traditions and started my real food journey.
My one critique is though you are given a 2 week meal plan, when you turn to the recipe, some recipes only serve 2 people. With my family being a family of 7 this makes it so you may think you have purchased everything according to the shopping list then go to make the recipe only to be frustrated that you need more food than expected.
It's still helpful and just means I will need to go through each recipe and adapt the shopping list. It's still a good start just not as helpful as I was thinking it would be.

Buy A Used Copy of Gregg Simplified, Not This Version

This review is not a critique of Gregg shorthand "Simplified Version," of which I am a huge fan and has proved invaluable for someone who attends frequent meetings. Instead, I am critical of the text being sold, because, unlike used copies, it does not contain an answer key to the exercises, which is extremely important. I learned this after I bought the new text, misplaced it, and ordered a used text for under $6.00, including S&H. Consequently, while I highly recommend Gregg Shorthand Simplified Version (there are a number of different versions and this is the most useful), I would only buy a used text.

Study this book! It's well worth your time.

Learning shorthand requires an effort, but it's well worth your time in the long run. Even if you quit after just studying the first half of this book, you will still be able to write at three or four times the speed of longhand. None of the systems based on the regular alphabet (such as Speedwriting, Stenoscript, Forkner or EasyScript) will let you attain such speeds. Moreover, Gregg shorthand is complete system of writing that you can use for all kinds of texts, not just for the stereotype formulas used in office dictation. And contrary to all the "modern", computer-based systems, Gregg shorthand is something you can use in all situations - you're not dependent on any kind of machine being at hand. It may take time and motivation to learn, but it's twice as useful as any of the "alphabet" systems, and it's a form of writing that will give you enormous benefit and pleasure both in your professional and your private life. I can recommend this book to anyone!

Great review to brush up on my shorthand from 44 years ago. Lessons are presented simply, in logical order, with lots of practice words available. I LOVE to make notes quickly, easily and in secret code!!!

Finding same relationship reworked with these early ones ...

While "vintage" denotes an older, indeed one of the early days first works (this is only the third in the author's extensive listing of single novels - 1984), it is sometimes a mixed bag. While it is refreshing to read earlier works of an author you have enjoyed in more current books, the writing faults have a way of putting one off a bit. It is also helpful to know that these early single ones are almost all in the romance novel genre, as opposed to the "women's fiction" ones from the larger, more current series.

These early ones can be a bit uneven, with abrupt shifts. Also, having read about half a dozen of these romantic ones, I am seeing the same pattern of a young girl falling for a type who is a bit rougher cut than is actually attractive to my reading. This same guy appears over and over in these, and I haven't liked him in any of his personas. While he is supposed to be a rugged type of man with some baggage that makes him more than usually skittish, he actually turns out rather abusive at times to my view. The lady love always hangs in there, struggling against the devastation of his harsh blasts, but it gets old and within each particular scenario, much less in one book after another. He seems to swing from devastatingly tender to almost brutally harsh. Just when you are settling in and enjoying things, it starts rocking and rolling on you. Also, the physical attraction seems a boiler plate in one after another, and none too balanced or convincing.

This is definitely a case of a promising writer evolving from her early days. I have been encouraged to note from other reviewers that the later ones in the listing (they come up to the current year) improve in the writing. So, I'd recommend checking some reader reviews of these earlier ones and finding those with the more positive commentary along those lines. For me, I find I prefer her "women's fiction" genre works to her romantic novels, and wish those could be indicated as separate from the others. I understand "Thursdays at Eight" (2001) is in that preferred category and am looking forward to reading it soon.

Doterra or Young Living?

Some of the reviews were complaining this was a big add for DoTerra Essential Oils.
Well, if you do any research you'll find the two top producers of quality oils are DoTerra and Young Living.
I happen to belong to the Young Living crowd.

Even still I found this book very helpful.
Yes, the author does recommend DT oil blends, because *that's what she knows*. If anything, find out the ingredients in those blends and make your own!

She gave a lot of good tips on using oils throughout pregnancy, labor, and newborn stages.
Even though she mentions DoTerra frequently I didn't find it off putting, or under pressure to buy DoTerra - just gave me more ideas on how to deal with this pregnancy.

Not safe!

Many of the recommendations in this book are unsafe for pregnancy, and the suggestions for use on newborns are very dangerous. Aromatherapists recommend no EOs on babies under 6 months and then VERY diluted; in pregnancy, limited and diluted. Stephanie also recommends a number of additional products and supplements from her supplier, which I found irritating; I was looking for information on oils, not a sales pitch for other products.
There are better resources available from people with more training in EOs and safety, rather than sales training from a MLM company. With your pregnancy and your newborn, you don't want to take chances on reactions and side effects. Many companies have aromatherapists on staff who can answer questions about use and safety, and there are discussion groups and forums online where the members are conscientious about EO application.

Amazing Resource!

I am an essential oil educator and many people ask me about which oils can be used during pregnancy and while nursing. I love having this book to refer people to because the author is a very experienced midwife with years of practical experience. I just had a baby 4 months ago and followed the guidance in this book. It was the best pregnancy and birth of my four. I would like to comment on the review that said that this book is more of an advertisement for doTerra than anything else. If you use other brands of essential oils and haven't experienced the difference of doTERRA then I understand you feeling this way. An author who has had such amazing success using this brand of oils couldn't write about anything else. The labor recipe helped me so much during labor and the spray that you put on after birth to heal the trauma in the peri area is like no other! I am so grateful for this book and you will be too.
