Rod Evans teaches philosophy at Old Dominion in Norfolk, Virginia. In the past, he's worked for the test preparation company Stanley Kaplan, preparing students for the SAT and the TOEFL. He is the author of The Gilded Tongue and other titles.

A very helpful and informative book

I bought this book for my twelve year old son, but also found that it is helpful for me. On page 51 I found a mnemonic device to help me remember the geological time scale, information that is essential for my Historic Geology class.
My son told me that if you remember the word "HOMES" you'll remember the five Great Lakes, Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie and Superior. This is in the book. I'm in my mid-forties, and all the years I went to school I never realized something so simple can be so helpful.
There are other mneomic devices in this book that will surely help anyone. For example if you can't remember where to place eating utensils when you set the table, there is this: left has four letters and so does fork. Right has five letter and so does spoon and knife.
This book is helpful for anyone, child or adult who needs help in remembering a process to accomplish a task. This is a book worth buying.
