Great bucket list book

My husband and I are planning a trip (we don't know where to yet) and so we bought this book to get some inspiration on where to go. It's got monuments from all over the world and there's really old stuff like the pyramids right through to some super modern buildings like the Burk Khalifa in Dubai.
The only criticism I'd give is that the book has just given us too many choices - we may be here til the end of time looking at all these wonderful monuments.

I loved it, but I won't buy it.

Saw it in a shop. Fell in love - I never knew I'd enjoy so much looking at photos of monuments.
Did not buy it though, and won't. I want a larger images, bigger pages. Give me double the size - double the price (and I don't mind if you take out half of the material :).
One needs the size to appreciate such monuments.

Encyclopedia of Distinguished Architectural Monuments

I enjoyed looking through a good part of this book. It is an encyclopediac collection of architectural monuments grouped and presented according to geographical area (By continents primarily). I especially enjoyed seeing some of my favorite New York City buildings above all the Flatiron building built in 1902 and designed by Daniel Burnham. Somehow this building has fascinated me since I first saw it with my uncles on a childhood tour of NY City.
Along with the fine if not large photographs of the monuments and their brief description there is a section providing biographies of major architects who created some of the buildings.
I would have appreciated a wider selection of monuments from the Jerusalem in which I live. It may be only a remnant but I believe the Western Wall of the Second Temple has enough historical significance to have been included in this volume.
The work seems to me an excellent gift for any young person enthusiastic about architecture or simply about the way the world looks.
