Some Girls Do (Outback Heat Book 1), by Amy Andrews

Fashion student Lacey Weston is desperate to leave the city and go home to Jumbuck Springs. Her three older brothers are adamant she’s not. They made a death bed promise to their mother that Lacey would stay the distance at design school and Ethan, the oldest, takes this responsibility very seriously. But Lacey is deeply homesick and determined not to be dissuaded again. She’s also impulsive enough to try anything - even faking a pregnancy.

Ex-cop turned mechanic, Cooper Grainger - one of Ethan’s oldest friends - agrees to watch out for Lacey in the city even though he has a history with her he’d rather forget. How hard could it be, right? But a couple of years later, Coop is over pulling Lacey out of scrapes and cleaning up her messes as she tries to outrun her grief and sense of dislocation. He takes her back to Jumbuck Springs so she can persuade her brothers to let her come home. But things don’t go according to plan. Before Coop knows it Lacey’s pregnant and he’s putting his hand up as the fake baby daddy, filling in for the town mechanic and moving in with her at the local pub.

Lacey is thrilled to have won a reprieve but nothing about the situation sits well with Coop. Least of all having sweet little Lacey Weston as his new roomie…

Review
"So this was quite a funfilled and lighthearted romance about a young woman and her brother's BFF. Its a small town romance that's quite charming and reminded me so much of my time in Australia that it just made me smile a lot." Julie, Goodreads.

"I loved this book! The characters had me hooked in from the start. Lacey is just looking to go home but her very over protective big brothers want her to stay at college. A bold face lie drags the lovely Coop into Lacey's deception putting him at odds with his best friend and closer to temptation. The story was fresh and highly entertaining. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series." Liz, Goodreads

Some teaser quotes for your reading pleasure....

"Lacey.."
If it was supposed to be a protest it was a weak one. It was more groan than warning."

"You think I don't know that you're hard for me right now?"

"If the man screwed like he kissed she was a goner"

"There was just something so damn male about a man doing something with his hands. Something mechanical. Something sweaty. And dirty. Watching Coop in his natural environment was seriously turning her on."

"A woman really had no business looking that good in a man's hat."

Easy read, Some character flaws
By synergy
This was an easy, quick read, and if you don't mind a few character flaws in your heroine, it's a pretty good romance.

For most of the book the age difference between the leads was very obvious. The author often paints the heroine as impulsive, but childish rings more true for me. On the other hand, the hero at 38 years old is very much a grown man. So, the heroine's actions by comparison seem all the more juvenile. The only time they appear as equals is in the bedroom and the last 10% of the book.

I'm on the fence about this one, so my recommendation is to get the sample first and then decide for yourself.

I received an ARC of this book, via Net Galley, in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Let's Just Open Pandora's Box
By paulalala
Lacey Weston lost her mother and really needs to be home with her three brothers but they made a promise to their mother that she would go away to design college no matter what. Her reaction to the exile is to act up and rebel as much as she can. One night of rebelling will cause her lots of problems. She, at nineteen, seduces Cooper Grainger, not knowing that he is her oldest brother’s best friend. Cooper has no idea who she is but after one night is certain she is the ONE he has been waiting for forever. When they meet because her brother wants Cooper to keep an eye on her, emotions and feelings can barely be contained. It takes a confrontation with her brothers, herself and Cooper to take the lid off the situation and open a Pandora’s box.
This is a fun read with lots of crossed lines and secret moves. I really loved it.

There's plenty of heat in this one!
By Shelagh
Amy Andrews' new Outback Heat series had me hooked before I even opened the first book. I remember singing my heart out to Racy and the song "Some Girls Do", so when I saw the four book titles I knew right away that these books were going to be a lot of fun, a lot of heat, and oh so readable.
This is such a country Aussie book and I love that about it. The language throughout the book is just right for the setting, though if you're not Australian you might struggle with it, though contextually it all fits perfectly with the setting.
There is also a lot of sex in Some Girls Do, and lots of fairly explicit fantasising about sex but I thought it was appropriate for the tone of the book and it was well written throughout.
Some Girls Do is the first in the series and tells the story of Lacey Weston and her oldest brother's best friend Cooper Grainger. There's a thirteen year age gap between the two, something that Lacey is conscious about even before she knows the link between Cooper and her brother Ethan. She introduces herself to Cooper and blithely adds five years to her actual age, having determined that she doesn't have a prayer of seducing him if he knows she's only nineteen.
Coop is more than delighted when he spots Lacey eyeing him off in the bar and is pretty keen to pursue the down and dirty as quickly as he can manage. They spend a torrid night together and it is only a week later that he finds out the truth.
I liked the way Lacey developed from a fairly insecure girl early in the book to one who was confident about her worth as a designer and as a person later when she was back in Jumbuck Creek. I also liked Coop, who was loyal, fair and level headed throughout. The plot kept me guessing, while the use of Aussie slang such as "cop a perve" had me smiling. All in all this was a great book to read and I'm looking forward to the rest of this series.
