While this book was written for teachers of younger students, I have used some of these games for my adult education classroom. The games can easily convert to almost any subject matter. I'm always looking for new ideas that this book really helps.

Teacher must have!

This is a fabulous book filled with tons of games and activities to keep students engaged and learning through fun. I use it all the time - it's my "go to" activity book. The games are sorted by subject area and then there is a general classroom area - making adaptations a snap. I very rarely do the games as the instructions say but I have gotten SO many started ideas from this book! It's a classroom teacher must have!

RATING FOR THE KINDLE VERSION - DO NOT BUY FOR KINDLE!

This book is really good, but I should have listened to the previous comment about the KINDLE VERSION being difficult to read. The footnotes are not accessible and where pictures should be it just says "can't put photo" or something. I bought this one week ago exactly and it will not let me return it. I wish I could return it and get the hard copy, it is really a good book but I do not enjoy reading it on the kindle because I feel like I am missing a lot and that is no fun.

What are you waiting for?

Great book. I can't believe I took so long to get around to buying it. It's not necessarily the type of book I'd read over and over, but I will definitely be lending it to friends to read. Just a very well written book and obviously a unique story. If you like Criminal Minds, Law and Order and those kind of shows you will love this book. Written from the prosecutor's perspective, there are details and explanations that are just...well, real.

Recommended.

I purchased the hard copy as recommend by another reader. Apparently the kindle version doesn't have the pictures that are in the hard copy. If that's the case (I can't be sure because I didn't order the kindle copy), I would HIGHLY recommend you purchase and read this one!

A re-read for me.

This is one of those books I like to re-read. No, I am not a Manson follower. It's not the person but the process of the trial of some of the most diabolical people in the 60's. I pick up on parts that I had forgotten or may of missed. The author is very specific on details as a lawyer should be. There are parts that drag of which could have been shorter but heck the book has been in 40 years. A good read and highly recommended it.

Stedman's Medical Dictionary 28th ed.

The dictionary is pretty good, once you adjust where to look for certain illnesses (a syndrome may be listed under diease or vice versa). The biggest disappointment is the inability to download the info onto my PDA. I downloads everything but the data file and there is virtually no support to figure out the glitch. The error message i receive is not identified on the software website. Beat. I still support the dictionary but don't fuss over the PDA stuff unless you are saavy.

I had bought an old edition of stedman's medical dictionary before on my freshman year as a nursing student and did help me a lot, this copy is for a friend of mine whose also a medical student and very glad that I recommended it for her, very good resource book for medical students.

This came in a timely manner, it was used, but had a perfect cover on it, maybe it wasn't used, i can't remember how i came up with that conclusion, however it was in mint condition, no pages torn or even bent/crinkled. I couldn't have gotten a better deal on it. and it was packaged perfectly. will definitely buy from this person again.

A very visual but, alas, unfinished novel

Aubrey Beardsley is principally known as an illustrator associated with the Decadence and Art Nouveau movements of the very late 19th Century. Near the end of his short life, however, he undertook to write a novel based on the legend of the medieval German Minnes�nger Tannh�user and his visit to the Venusburg, the underground haven of the goddess of love. Beardsley died, however, in 1898 leaving the novel a little more than half finished. A fragment was published by the author during his lifetime, but with the name of Venus for some reason changed to Helen. (There is at least one instance in the text where he forgot to change it back to Venus.) A bowdlerized version of the entire (but unfinished) work was published posthumously in 1907, then an uncensored edition in 1927. The Wordsworth Classic edition features an ending supplied by the poet John Glassco based on Beardsley's notes. Of the novel's 140 pages, the first 80 are Beardsley's, the final 60 Glassco's.

The story follows the legend of Tannh�user as depicted in Wagner's opera of the same name, but with considerable erotic embellishment. With little preamble, Tannhauser, a knight, stumbles upon an ornate portal leading into an underground fantasy land. It is the Venusburg, where the goddess and her retinue spend eternity wining and dining, entertaining one another with various musical and stage productions, and, of course, having lots of sex. Tannhauser immediately becomes Venus's favorite, and spends weeks in non-stop debauchery. Eventually, though, he becomes bored and takes his leave of paradise. He is scarcely back in the world of reality before he is smitten with shame and remorse for his sins which are so great, he is told, that only the Pope himself could possibly grant Tannhauser absolution.

Beardsley illustrated his own work, of course, and started writing the novel as though it were a description of the pictures rather than the other way around. Early in the novel he spends pages describing a single scene in full detail--hair styles, clothes, furniture, decorations--then bolts through the ensuing action in a few sentences. There is virtually no dialogue. As the novel progresses, though, the style becomes more balanced with equal attention to plot and setting. It continues this way through Glassco's ending. The erotic passages are extreme in their variety and perversity, but described with brevity and delicacy. Beardsley uses mostly French terms for bodily parts and functions. It is unclear how serious we are meant to take Tannhauser's repentance, since this part of the novel is Glassco's and not Beardsley's, but this is a novel meant to stimulate the senses, not the intellect.

Mezmorizingly Bizzare Love Story

I got ahold of a used copy of this treasure, back when it was hard to find. Interested readers are so fortunate to have it back in print. One of those books that had me breathlessly mumbling incantations of how badly I wished I had written this. Clearly C.S. Watson "didn't get it." That's ok, Venus & Tannh�user isn't for everyone. The writing is highly stylized and fantastical, with over-the-top descriptions that simultaneously parody Victorian literature, while standing as a gorgeous example of the style. There's tons of wit, humor and amazing imagery. If you're into surrealist, fun, erotic, and just generally hilarious over-the-top Victorian writing, I recommend giving this one a whirl.

Greg Anderson has over 23 years of industry software engineering experience and provided educational seminars across North America for over 12 years. He has a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, a Masters degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in CIS, a Masters level certificate in Information Assurance, and a PhD in Technology Management with an emphasis in HRD and Industrial Training from Indiana State University. Keeping his consulting company in operation, Greg also is an Associate Professor in Computer Science at Weber State University.

David Ferro has over 20 years of industry software engineering experience. He has a Bachelors degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts and a PhD in Science and Technology Studies from Virginia Tech. David is an Associate Professor in Computer Science at Weber State University and has also taught in History, Honors, and IS&T departments there.

Robert Hilton is a faculty member in the Computer Science department at Weber State University. He has 18 years teaching experience, specializing in computer architecture, database and programming courses. Computer Science is fun!

I had to buy this for school and it was actually one of the only textbooks I have somewhat enjoyed reading. In the beginning of every chapter, there is a section called the "lighter side of the lab" and it always made me giggle a little. I learned a lot from this book and I definitely recommend it to anyone interested in the basics of your computer "under the hood".

Great Introduction to the Subject

I bought this book to learn more about how computers operate. I am a self-learner who prefers textbooks because of the depth they provide but I like a textbook that read more like a novel for someone not taking the class. A good textbook does not need supplementary material (like lectures) in order to be understandable and helpful. This book meets and exceeds all expectations. It is written well, starts from the beginning, and explains topics in a logical and easy to understand way. The topics build on each other, so start from the beginning unless you have background knowledge. Some info is outdated and could definitely benefit from a newer edition. Highly recommend!

met my expectations,i was required for my computer class to get a second edition but this first edition is exact match to the 2nd edition and i saved almost 120 dollars just purchasing this book in amazon as compared to other websites.

The story is so bad that it is nearly funny in an unintentional way.

Ten years before the story begins, Summer was engaged to the man she loved. Then her hard-hearing aunt, queen of gossip, tells her that rumor has it that Brad, her fianc�, has kissed a girl under the mistletoe (as if that was such a big deal!). Our brain-damaged heroine breaks up with the love of her life without giving him the chance to explain himself! She begins a career in modelling and dates another man who seems as stupid as her. They could therefore be a good match but she wants to break up. Without even popping the question, he buys her an engagement ring and Summer passively accepts the situation because, maybe, that is a sign that God has sent her this man! Now, there is nothing wrong with trusting God but that does not mean that you cannot use your brain and your heart to know what you want in your life: grow up, heroine!

Summer is supposed to spend Christmas in California with her new fianc� and his parents, which she dreads. Luckily, the plane that she should take to go the California is cancelled due to a storm and the only flight not cancelled is to Kissing Bridge (!) her hometown in Vermont. Despite the terrible tragedy which happened 10 years ago (remember, a guy kissed a girl under the mistletoe, a real tragedy indeed!) she takes this plane and surprises her mother and her aunt who are happy to see her but nonetheless seem to be in some excruciating crisis. Has one of them discovered that she has cancer or lost her job or what exactly is the problem? The problem - sorry, the tragedy - is that the mother has not won the cookie competition, she is only second! How heart-breaking is that!

Ok, I won't tell the end because you get the gist. The characters are shallow and terribly immature. The story is practically non-existent and idiotic. And the language! Even I, a non-native English speaker (sorry for any mistake in this comment by the way) could spot many mistakes. The worst of all is: "could have went" (aaaargh!). And the author does not seem to know the difference between fianc� (a man) and fianc�e (a woman), or between "envious" (feeling or showing envy) and "enviable" (arousing or likely to arouse envy). There are other examples but there is no point in listing them.

Reading a romance is something you do to relax and take a vacation from your brain, but this story did not relax me at all, it just irritated me because of its low quality. And my brain, which can accept mildly hard-to-believe and not-so-original plots in a romance protested strongly at the sloppiness and sheer stupidity of this one.

I knew Linda to be an excellent writer from her outstanding non-fiction books on frequencies and law of attraction, so I was looking forward to her creative storytelling. "Christmas Kisses…" is just what I had expected and hoped-for: A delightful, light-hearted romp through the classic challenges of finding true love, amidst family quirks and Holiday Season homecomings. Set in the beautiful, picture-postcard Vermont town of Kissing Bridge Mountain at Christmas time, if you like LOVE, hot chocolate and cookies! -- and who doesn't?! -- you'll love this fun escape... Enjoy! :)

The live class videos were great with a read along transcription

This is all I needed to pass the test. The live class videos were great with a read along transcription. It made me feel like I was in the class but really I was sitting in the comfort of my home. The exam database was very large with three exam sizes (40, 80, 120 questions). This made it possible to always fit one in no matter the time or how tired I was. They also offered study exams which were great as your answers are graded immediately, so you can see what you got wrong and read the explanation to understand the correct answer. In three days (1.5 days for watching videos, reading transcripts and online chapter content, and 1.5 days doing non-stop practice and study exams), I was confident and ready for the PMI-ACP exam and passed. The best thing I can say about this course is that the authors don't teach you to memorize content, they teach you to "think" like an agile practitioner.That is key and I've taken that mindset and already incorporated in into my daily job adding great value.

I learned of this product before it was released, in a 1-day live class with the author, John Stenbeck, for continuing education in support of my Project Management Institute PMP credential. When it came out, I purchased it in sync with my schedule for taking the test. It was exciting to learn from John again. He truly knows his stuff and imparts relevance and insight. Passed the test on the first sitting. What’s important about this specific package is that it ties together a relatively new discipline, explains many of the pitfalls of the disagreements in the different agile practices, and enables students to prepare to answer questions about agile. Not from memory but from thinking about a given question and then answering from knowledge, not rote memorization.

Good, but a lot of typos and errors in the book and the practice exams. Impression is that it was rushed into production without the necessary care taken. The video commentary also does not synch well
